Gua Sha
Guide
Gua sha is an ancient Chinese technique that involves gently scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool, often made from jade or rose quartz. When used on the face, it can help to:
Reduce puffiness
Lift and contour the skin
Improve skin tone and texture
Reduce fine lines and wrinkles
Calm redness and inflammation

Getting Started
Cleanse
Start with a clean face to remove any dirt, oil, or makeup.
Moisturise
Apply a generous amount of facial oil or serum to your skin. This will help the gua sha tool glide smoothly.
Gua Sha Technique
Neck
Gently glide the flat edge of the tool upwards from the base of your neck towards your jawline.
Jawline
Place the flat edge under your chin and glide it outwards towards your ears.
Cheeks
Start at the centre of your face and glide the tool outwards towards your ears, following the contours of your cheekbones.
Forehead
Place the flat edge at the centre of your forehead and glide it outwards towards your temples.
Under-eye area
Use the smaller, curved edge of the tool and gently glide it from the inner corner of your eye outwards.

Tips for Beginners
Light pressure
Start with gentle pressure and gradually increase as you become more comfortable.
Upward strokes
Always move the tool in an upward direction to promote lymphatic drainage.
Relax
Take deep breaths and relax your facial muscles.
Frequency
You can do gua sha 2-3 times per week.
Listen to your skin
If you experience any discomfort or redness, reduce the pressure or frequency.
